Crown Tree Awards: official rules

Draft rules. Have them reviewed before the contest opens.

1. Sponsor

The Crown Tree Awards (the "Contest") is run by 10ten Studio ("we"). Contact: hello@10tenStudio.com. The Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or any other social platform, or by the Province of British Columbia.

2. Who can enter

Residents of British Columbia who are 18 or older. Employees of 10ten Studio and their households can't win.

3. Dates

Entries are accepted from November 15 to December 18, 2026, and voting runs from November 15 to 11:59 pm Pacific time on December 20, 2026. Winners are announced around December 22.

4. How to enter

Make a tree photo card on choppable.app and submit it with the entry form. No purchase is necessary. Up to 3 entries per person. The tree must have been cut in BC this season under a valid free-use Christmas tree permit, and the permit's conditions must have been followed. Every entry is reviewed before it appears; we may decline any entry, including ones that show unsafe or illegal cutting, or anything offensive.

5. People in photos

You confirm that everyone recognizable in your photo agreed to it being shown, and that a parent or guardian agreed for any child. You must own the photo or have permission to use it.

6. Voting

Anyone may vote. Each person may vote once per entry per day. The entry with the most valid votes overall when voting closes wins the grand prize. In each of the 4 categories, the entry with the most valid votes, other than the grand prize winner, wins that category's prize. Each entry is in one category, chosen when entering. If two entries tie, the one entered first wins.

7. Fair play

Votes cast by bots, scripts, paid or traded voting services, fake accounts, or any method meant to get around the voting limits are not valid. We review voting patterns and may remove invalid votes or disqualify an entry at our discretion. Our decision on vote validity is final.

8. Prizes

$500 in total (Canadian dollars), paid by e-transfer: one grand prize of $300, and 4 category prizes of $50 each (Scraggliest Crown Tree, Best Tree in a Tiny Space, Most BC Tree Trip, Best Family Effort).

One prize per person. If someone's entries would win more than one prize, they get the larger one and the next eligible entry wins the other. To win, a selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question, show the permit used to cut the tree, and sign a declaration and release. If they can't be reached within 7 days or don't meet these conditions, the next eligible entry for that prize may be selected.

9. Your photo

You keep ownership of your photo. By entering, you let 10ten Studio show it on choppable.app and in posts promoting the Contest until December 31, 2027. Ask us any time to remove your entry.

10. Privacy

We use your email only to run the Contest and contact winners. See the privacy page.
